Facing the pink slip in the time of recession

January is beginning to look like the career killing fields, with companies starting the work week with bleak layoff news. According to Forbes' tracker, America's 500 largest public companies have passed out more than 130,000 pink slips. (For layoffs over the long term, the Bureau of Labor Statistics page of Mass Layoff Statistics tracks establishments which file at least 50 claims.) These numbers won't let up, as economic forecasters predict unrelenting cuts for the next six months.

With US, facing high economic downturn, Indian software industry is on the reality check; what is stored for them in this economic slump. Barring some top shots, it seems whole IT industry is crippling with projects ended and future deals in abeyance. The companies are facing the billing pressure indicating that meltdown is cracking the backbone of strong Indian GDP growth and aim of being reckoned as global power in coming few years.

Those individuals getting the pink slip may get traumatized. But bouncing back would be the right option for them. If the individual is laid-off, they should try to prepare themselves for the future economical boom; because one thing is true that nothing stays forever. Everything changes with passing time. So good time will arrive. Hence instead of sitting idle and getting frustrated, its better prepare for the battle ahead. During this time one should try to find out his/her potential, may go for some higher study, may change their specialization.

The employer can snatch your job, the robbers can loot your property, but no one in this earth can snatch your knowledge. That is your own personal property which is embedded within you. So keep enriching yourself and you will see layoffs are just a temporary cloud with a silver lining.
