Pre-placements talks with MBA schools scheduled from September 2009
Top companies have started extending job offers to MBA school students, even for those who have not yet finished their MBA degree courses! Mumbai-based We School said that seven students have been offered PPOs even before the pre-placement season at We School begins. “Seven of our students have already got PPO offers from top companies like Networth Stock Broking Ltd., Godrej & Boyce and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. PPOs generally come in 2-3 months after the completion of student’s summer project – roughly September/October onwards. Pre-placements talks are scheduled to begin from September 2009,” We School said.
This year the summer project at the MBA School saw students interning in top companies abroad. We School said, “Our students underwent summer trainings in Germany, Singapore, Kenya, UAE and Denmark. Some of the companies where the We School students were trained include Siemens, MV Group, Daimler AG & Bearing Point in Germany, Freudenberg IT in Singapore, BIDCO in Kenya and Sharaf Group in the UAE.”
The MBA School said that most PPOs made by companies have a timeline for acceptance. “Companies offer PPOs because they are happy with the performance of the student and feel that the student will be an asset to the organization, as an employee. They would like to book the student, before he/she gets offers from other companies. On the other hand, it is important for the student to evaluate the company and make a decision on whether the student reciprocates the sentiment and would like to build a career in the company,” We School said.
We School is hopeful of a good final placement season this time. “The process will certainly be competitive. The economic scenario has not changed drastically, although we can see the markets recovering gradually. Hence we believe companies will continue being very selective about campuses and students and look for that extra bit the student can bring into the organization. Packages may lack luster, but we believe 2010 will offer quality work profiles to students with a genuine career development opportunity.”
