Does Team India need additional security?
In the wake of Tuesday's terror attackon the Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan, the BCCI has asked its New Zealand counterpart to provide additional security to the Indian team during theongoing series.
"I have spoken to former BCCIsecretary Niranjan Shah (the team's manager) to take extra precautionsregarding the players' safety and security," BCCI president ShashankManohar told reporters here.
Condemning the attack which left six Lankan cricketers, including skipperMahela Jayawardene and spinner Ajantha Mendis injured, Manohar said the ICCshould rethink about the 2011 World Cup matches to be held in that country."I don't think any cricket playing nation will now send it's team toPakistan at least for four to five years in the wake of today's attack on SriLankan cricketers near Gaddafi stadium in Lahore," Manohar said.
"The International Cricket Council (ICC) will have to rethink on 2011World cup matches played in Pakistan after this incident," he added. Pakistanis scheduled to jointly host the 2011 World Cup with India, Sri Lanka andBangladesh and Manohar's statement is a clear indication that it is unlikely toremain one of the hosts.
