As many as 23 students of VIBGYOR High International School have been selected to take part in an eight-week space camp organised at the US Space and Rocket Centre, the official visitor centre of Marshall Space Flight Centre of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It is the only school in the city that has been selected for the camp, which will be held in December.

The official ambassador to the NASA Space Camp and the US Space and Rocket Centre, Brij Mohan Sood visited the school on Wednesday to orient the students as well as their parents about the camp."Some 100 students have been selected from Gujarat. They will further be interviewed by Mr Sood," said Shirin Wadia, principal of VIBGYOR High International School.

During the camp, the students will be exposed to the practical and life-like applications of the theories they have studied. "They will be exposed to the practical demonstration of zero gravity zone, aviation and areas of science and technology which they have only read about in school," said Seema Panj Nermeti, hostel rector of the school.

After the camp, the students will visit the NASA museum. In addition, there will be a competition between the selected students from all over the world at the end of the camp. "We certainly want our students to fare well when they compete with international students. They have already started their preparation," said Nermeti.

Meanwhile, Sood informed that he has been an ambassador of 17 states in India, which includes Gujarat. "Till now, 64 students from different batches have already been sent to the NASA Space Camp," said Sood.
