Delhi Daredevils release dope-tainted Asif

Pakistani pace bowler Mohammad Asif's contract with the Delhi Daredevils has been terminated as per his wishes.Asif was facing charges of doping in the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL).

Asif and his Sports Management company, Portfolio World, has had meetings with Delhi Daredevils officials over the past two days and as per Asif's request, he has been released from the team.

'I am taking this step due to personal reasons. It was not an easy decision as I still have a valid contract for another two seasons, with lucrative financial benefits,' Asif said in a statement Monday.

'Currently I'm undergoing tremendous amount of pressure at all ends and need to regain my focus on resolving matters by addressing them individually.'

Asif, who is on the verge of bankruptcy, flew to India to collect his financial dues from Daredevils.Asif has also been found guilty of carrying drugs in Dubai and faces a possible ban by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)

'My only wish is to play for Pakistan again, and for that I need to disengage myself from other cricket engagements,' Asif said.
