Every one of us thankful to the middle eastern employers and governments who gave us a chance to serve here and earn some extra bucks for savings in native country. Now middle eastern job markets are shrinking and reducing their job chances, especially for expat professionals. Irrespective of mentioning country by country, these new changes are taking dramatically in every country.
This shrinkage and less offers for expats, coming to the difference - there is big difference between other countries compare with Middle East. Main difference is to get a chance to get migration or permanent residence status. Even you serve 30 years of your life time in Middle East, no chances either you will get nationality, permanent residence status in middle east countries. Even in some countries, employee cannot switch from one company to other freely as in other countries.
Every one of us hold Indian passport, one fine day all of us has to return and settle in our mother land India. India achieving day to day technological advancements compare to other countries where we are residing. Indian companies keeping gulf experience aside or atleast in 2nd importance category comparing to local candidates. There are 2 reasons to consider here:
1. Young dynamic professionals available in India whose age is lesser and with bunch of high qualifications compare with gulf returnees.
2. Lack of Indian market exposure of job market handling in Gulf returnees.
If one think about return and settle in India, I would like to suggest 40 years will be the final to considering return to home country. Rest 10 years i.e untill you reach 50 years of age, irrespective of monthly earnings and difference, be prepare to enter Indian market for settlement. Most gulf returnees I observed are facing with young candidates of age group 25-30 years. When companies considering to recruit, showing interest in young candidates instead of employing a 40 years old.
Particularly here I want to point towards IT and Business process professionals. Indian IT and Business process professionals far advanced compared with Gulf Indians in the same field. usually 40+ candidates consider Middle level management or high level management positions. These positions are almost occupied as on now and if few positions available, local India IIT-ians, MBA's, MCAs are in 'que' for these jobs. Some professions like doctors, high level engineers no need worry. There is always a seat for them even abroad or home land.
The other field I observed more difficult to find job in Indian market is from Finance. Many companies believe that existing NO TAXATION gulf experience will not match existing Indian taxation job market. So companies are less considering gulf returnees in Accounts and Finance jobs.
Most Indians residing in Middle East have adjusting nature with job duties and responsibilities assigned to them, keeping away their qualifications. Many Electronic Engineers and B.Tech qualified Indians are working in Sales and Finance departments considering the perks they are earning monthly. Simply they afraid of Indian job market whether they get a good job or not and they adjust themself mentally and professionally to accept gulf job duties. This is the first wrong step and they ignoring fact that they are the loosers in their life path.
Considering the points and making this text short, I believe 40 years of age is correct time to Gulf residing Indians to rethink about returning India and considering to settle down in India.

Syed Hussain.
