Four new IIMs on way
The notification from the HRD mentions that the appointments would be made
on a contractual basis for a period of five years
If you are not more than 60, have eminent academic credentials in the field of
management, are an able administrator and a visionary – IIMs are looking for
you! The HRD Ministry has recently invited applications for the post of
director for the proposed IIMs to be set up at Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Rohtak
(Haryana), Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu).
The notification from the HRD mentions that the appointments would be made on a
contractual basis for a period of five years. It also mentions the pay-scale as
Rs 80,000 per month. The cabinet had earlier taken the decision to revise the
pay-scales of centrally funded technical institutions in a bid to retain as
well as attract quality teachers and staff.
“The ministry would be inviting applications for other proposed IIMs later in the year after the campus locations are finalized,” an official claimed. According to the eleventh five-year-plan, IIMs were to be set up at seven new locations including Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, J&K and Meghalaya. The IIM Shillong campus was set up last year. IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and Shillong have ensured their support for establishing the new IIMs.
