J N Tata Technical Education Centre set up by Tata Steel in Gopalpur at an investment of Rs 28 Crores is imparting 3 years diploma course in Mechatronics, Electronics and Manufacturing Technology for boys and girls from Odisha with a guarantee for employment.

Those who have successfully completed the course have achieved 100% placement with the best of the Corporate in the country.

The list includes names like Siemens, L&T, Robert Bosch, Maruti Suzuki, Punj Lyod, Al-Shirwai (Dubai) among others.

From last year, Tata Steel in collaboration with Odisha Schedule Caste /Schedule Tribe Development Finance Cooperative Corporation, Employment Mission, Government of Odisha is also sponsoring two-years Certificate Programme in multi-skill (Technical) for Schedule Tribe candidates from the state.

Similarly, SESDI is providing campus based short and focused free training on self employment ventures to the needy youth. Though sponsored by Tata Refractories Limited, this is being run by an autonomous body named as the Belpahar Education Society (BES).

TRL has contributed Rs 1.6 crore towards the capital assets to the campus, which has the latest facilities for campus based training like class rooms, laboratories, workshops, hostels, mess and administrative block.

However, from this April this year, the public sector State Bank of India (SBI) has joined hands to co-sponsor this institute and the institute is now known as TRL-SBI SESDI

The training programmes of SESDI which became operational from April 2009, are based on the market need for a particular activity or trade and currently it includes Welding, Electrical Wiring, Plumbing etc.

The curriculum is customized to provide them hard skills on the chosen activity and soft skills for their wholesome personality development. Self employed practitioners provide most of the faculty services and the duration of the training varies from one month to one and half month.
