Planning to buy cars, hurry up before its late

Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday announced a price hike of up to Rs 10,000 across select models like A-Star mini car and Swift hatckback, while sparing popular models like Alto and WagonR from the upward revision. The company said the price hike, necessitated by increase in input costs and foreign currency fluctuation, would be effective immediately.

Hyundai also said that it would increase car prices by up to 2% within first week of the next month. "The company would increase the prices of various models by the first week of February," a company spokesperson said.

Maruti said the newly-launched A-Star would now be dearer by Rs 10,000 across variants. On the Swift, the hike is Rs 5,000 for the entry-level petrol model while for the higher variants, it is Rs 6,000. "All variants of Swift Diesel will be more expensive by Rs 6,000," it said.

The price hike on the Dzire, the mid-size version of Swift, will be Rs 7,000, spread across all petrol and diesel variants. Price of SX4 sedan were also increased by Rs 9000. There is no change, however, in prices of M800, Omni, Alto, WagonR, Zen Estilo, Gypsy, Versa and Grand Vitara.
