what matters now

Project Manager Bombay
We have been reading about all the different advice that people are giving for those who are seeking to start their careers in these difficult times.

some say one should stick to the effort one is putting in pursuing and others say one must try and think out of the box and start something on their own..

given that earning ones bread is a key factor towards being independance, today India needs more than just bread earners, and income generators. Today India needs individuals who along with their mental capability also tap their human abilities and work not simply on the basis of capitalism but factor in almost 50% efforts towards humanism.

Given the way things are rapidly getting commercialised, consumer mentality is being promoted by every private enterprise for their own profits but in the process, these corporations ensure that people behave exactly like lab-rats - entities which act on stimulus and otherwise remain numb and dumb... which seems to be happening already...

People, gullible or otherwise are being in a way forced to focus today - given the reigning confusion in the markets about the plethora of choices and cunning ways of marketing which makes people feel like victims of circumstances - on meeting their own demands, thinking only about their own benefit.

No one looks at the big picture anymore.. something that at the Indian philosophical and spiritual teachings from the past has always emphasised upon, to be a very important factor in personal growth.

Today people are feeling trapped in the various choices they are needed to make. Given that this is definitely a growing trend, growth pangs, but along with growth, the stress levels for choices is getting higher for people and they are actually losing out on the emotional aspects of being a human being.

So today, kids are being taught to be very competitive.. at times this gets across as a wrong message to the kids. They take competition too seriously to even think of anything but achieving their goals by hook or crook... and it shows up how these teenagers are turning into criminals.
The stress levels are being increased by parents too who want to achieve a higher social status looking at 'progress' around them. So they show aggresiveness which tends to harm the child's proper growth also.

At the end of the day, we seem to be having more and more numb and dumb people who 'react' to stimulus than being able to control their stimulus and their reactions.
This trend has to be stopped only by the upcoming generations primarily because it is their mid-life and older life at stake, and also because there is more and more influx of semi-literate and illiterate people into the main cities from villages who are taking all this stress in a very different way - mostly negatively.

So what matters now for new career searchers is also to keep their human values equally alive and practice them around with people, strangers and friends to ensure that tomorrow, when their times get ripe, they have more mature issues to deal with than such raw behavioral issues that we see amongst people today.
