UGC NOTICE ABOUT FAKE COLLEGES
It has come to the notice of the University Grants Commission that some of the State Private Universities have affiliated colleges and started off-campus centre(s) beyond the territorial jurisdiction of their State in violation of the UGC (Establishment of and Maintenance of Standards in Private Universities) Regulations, 2003 and against the judgment in case of Prof. Yash Pal & Others vs. State of Chhatisgarh & Others.
Some of these universities are running these Centres on franchising basis also which is not allowed. It is for the information of the public at large and the student community in particular that as per the information available with the UGCas on date, there are following 42 private universities established by theActs of the Legislatures of different States.Some are -
1-DhiruAmbani Institute of Information and Communication Technology,Gandhinagar, Post Box No. 4, Gandhinagar-382 007.
2-Nirma University of Science & Technology, Sarkhej, Gandhinagar Highway, Village-Chharodi, Ahmedabad.
3-Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar –Ludhiana, G. T. Road, NearChehru Railway Bridge, Phagwara, District – Kapurthala – 144 002.
4-Amity University, NOIDA, (UP).
& alots of others.
They cannot establish off campus centre(s) beyond the erritorial jurisdiction of the concerned State. However, they can establish offcampus centre(s) within the concerned State after their existence of five yearsand with the prior approval of the University Grants Commission. Sofar, UGC has not approved any off campus centre(s) of any PrivateUniversity.
Students/Public at large are advised to go through this websitecarefully before taking admission in any of the above State PrivateUniversities and report the matter to Secretary, UGC on finding anyviolation of the above provisions.
