Can Recruiting Consultants Help You Find The Right Job?
If you are currently on the lookout for a new job, Professional employment recruiters can really help open a whole new window of opportunities for you. But first you would need to figure out their role in the market and how exactly you fit into their business model. A number of people tend to misunderstand the recruiters’ business model and this often causes them a great deal of frustration, when they fail to get the kind of results they expected from them.
Same geographical location and industry: Always go for recruiters who live in same geographical location, cater to the same market and if possible look for candidates who at your specific job level. So if you are looking for a situation as a manager in hospitality industry, it would be best to send your resume to recruiters who concentrate solely on that field.
Cover letter and Resume: Mail your resume and a well composed cover letter to your recruiters. In the letter, properly define your specific career aspirations. Make sure that while addressing the letter to the recruiter, you use the same professional tone and style that you would if you were sending that letter to a prospective employer.
Never expect additional assistance: Never expect the recruiting agency to
make any changes (improvements) in your resume or cover letter. Nor should you
expect them to provide you with any sort of career training or counseling. At
most what they will do is briefly tell you about the company for whom they are
hiring. At most they will pass on some special tips about what to say and how
to act in the interview; take care to heed their advice.
If your recruiters don’t respond: If you don’t hear from them after you
mailed them your profile, it just means that they currently don’t have a
position you are suited for, at this time. Don’t bother to call up and pester
them by asking why they didn’t get back to you and when will they be sending
you for an interview. You really can’t for force a recruiter to look for an
opening just for you. If and when the need arises they will call you
themselves.
Additional information sought: If ever the recruiting company demands any
additional information or updates, or asks you to make certain changes in your
resume, don’t question their wisdom and respond as per their request. At times
recruiters are so intimately familiar with a company’s hiring policy, that they
will know exactly the kind of information that would be sought by the
employers. So if they ask you for additional information don’t hesitate. Just
oblige.
