Please Dravid, Go
DRAVID YOU ARE a great batsman. As Straight Point mentioned in his blog, even if you collect a pair at Nagpur you will still remain great.
You may think there is still some cricket left in you. Some time back I felt you are hanging on to make more bucks but Soulberry corrected me. Surely you want to leave on a high. But I don't think you need to prove a point to any one. You are a great batsman and may I say you are best test batsman for India.
You took us to victory on unlikeliest pitches like Headingly and Sabina Park. The innings you played at Sabina park must figure as one of the best in world cricket. The closest to those innings', from what I saw, is the one played by Sunil Gavaskar in Bangalore. And of course Vishy's knock in Chennai, though I didn't see that.
When I read on cricinfo that you fell to a regular off break, it was heart breaking. The man who played so valiantly for more than a decade is getting dismissed cheaply by a rookie off spinner who didn't know how to get past the bat against BP XI few weeks back, is really heart breaking.
The writing is on the wall Dravid. Please go to a mirror, it will show you that. You may want to play but I don't think your masters feel the same way. Even I, an ardent fan of yours, don't think you can get out of this slump.
Miracles do happen and that's what I was hoping for when your slump deepened in Srilanka. Save for a grip here and one there, you have been slipping deeper and deeper. It's painful man, to see you struggle like this and read all the comments made, in various forums, about you being a liability. You were an asset. Yes you are no more an asset to this team.
Please go Dravid. Go.
