Be a Bridge

Associate Business Analyst

We keep hearing about functional consultants and technical consultants or something else? But what's the Need? What’s the Difference? And which one best matches your background?

If you are a programmer or admin, technical consulting makes the most sense, while if you are a financial or business process guru, look into functional consulting.

But what! When you have both backgrounds like BTech and MBA? Very First question should be what domain you choose? And Second should be does it suits your interest level?

If you have got answers to both then only you can take the right decision.

Either you can a functional consultant or a technical consultant, but have you ever imagined of an option which bridges both the areas.

Yes, it’s true!!!

Software companies were never doing well and moreover from the calculations only 3 out of 10 projects complete successfully, 4 show extreme complexity and challenges and rest fails.

After understanding the complexities and detailed study Tech and Management Gurus have found that major hitch is the understanding of Clients requirements functionally and then to execute it technically. It was never possible for a pure technical guy or a pure functional guy to understand ant implement everything. Every project requires both technical and functional resources. Because the perspectives of these two groups are so diverse, there is a critical need for a person who can move easily between these two worlds and keep them moving in unison – a “Bridge”. We will address what makes a good bridge person, and how to find one, empowering a bridge person, and maximizing their effectiveness to promote systems project success.

So a new designation took birth as BUSINESS ANALYST.

Role of a Business analyst is very vast and it acts as a ‘Bridge’ between the Client and the Technical team. Now Days every IT firm is looking for such people who can understand the requirements and then at the same time pass this information to Technical team to keep everybody on same page.

Characteristics of Bridge Person …

Ø Understands the Project or System Goals

Ø Understands Requirements and Concerns of all Constituencies

Ø Comfortable in Functional and Technical Worlds

Ø Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Ø Strong Management and Problem-Solving Skills

Ø Intuitive and Flexible

Ø Decisive

Ø “Meeting Endurance”

Ø Relational Practice Skills

So if you meet the above criteria, it’s great but if not start inculcating all the above said traits in you from today onwards and then feel the change!!!
