Last week we shifted to India. It was the first time after our newborn. Before him, we used to shift frequently, owing to the nature of my husband's work. Since junior was still very small, most of my time was spent with him. So, my husband had done most of the packing and was now busy with unpacking. I had put junior off to sleep, and was cooking something for us, when I heard a loud groan. It was my husband. I hurried to the room he was in, just to find him kicking the CPU of the computer. I rushed to his side, and made him stop that. Then he told me!
The computer was not booting and all the data that was stored in it was gone. I was stunned. I couldn't believe that. It had junior's pictures, the ones taken before birth and later. The entire treasure was gone. My husband had been toying with the idea of starting his own business, for which he had made certain presentations as well. He had various meetings, scheduled at the end of next week, in which all those presentations had to be discussed. Oh darn!! It was all gone!!
We were highly distressed, and were frozen for god knows how much time. Everything had come to a standstill. We were shaken out of our shock, after a few hours, by juniors cry, who had woken up from his sleep. I went to attend to him, but my mind was occupied with the thoughts of this mishap. We had moved there with the hope of growing in our lives and had ended up losing a part of our past, and a great chance for our future.
We went out next day, to get some grocery. My husband went to some cafe to get contact details of the prospective customers and request them to postpone the meeting, if possible. I waited there for a couple of hours for him to come back, and was worried, and tired with junior. I decided to go back home and wait for my husband there. The moment I reached, I saw him going out with the computer. But he was happy!!
And when he came back, after another few hours, he was excited. I kept asking him what happened, but instead of answering me, he took us out for a good dinner. It was then that he told me, that he had struck gold.
A company named Stellar Data Recovery, specialized in the field of data recovery from any dead storage media. They had assured him of complete Hard Disk Recovery, as they had analyzed the hard drive of our system, and told him that all the data was recoverable. Since we had shifted, our hard drive had bumped a couple of times, and thats why some parts of it had been damaged. He had called the first client, and poured everything, as that guy had been particularly concerned and sympathetic. It was this guy, who had suggested Data Recovery to my husband. My husband had spoken to them, and then taken the hard drive to their office at India.
