The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
Three technologists left their well paying corporate jobs to chase their dream in India. This was no ordinary dream – the trio dreamed of starting a world class telephony company in India. This is how Knowlarity was born.
It was 2009, the year following the 2008 Subprime mortgage crisis. Businesses were still reeling after the earthshaking events of the previous year. Investor sentiments were at an all time low, funds were difficult to come by – one could safely say that this was not the time to start a new business. Knowlarity persisted and came out tops of the situation, thanks to its persistence and unwavering belief in the virtues of cloud technology.
With cloud technology adoption in India one of the lowest in the world, they realized quickly that proactive marketing was the need of the hours. This is how hustling eventually became the cornerstone of their marketing outreach. One of their first clients was none another than the charismatic Chief Minister of Orissa, Mr. Naveen Patnaik. They were able to convince Mr. Patnaik that he could reach out to every voter in his constituency with an automated voice message saying “I am Naveen Patnaik, please vote for me”. Mr. Patnaik gave us the go ahead after deliberating over the solution and the rest is history. Knowlarity netted 1.5 Crore from this project.
This was followed with Uttar Pradesh’s Mid Day Meal Monitoring project where Knowlarity helped the state government ensure that no student stayed hungry. This project covered more than 12,000 schools spread across the length and breadth of Uttar Pradesh and was described a grand success by the nation’s media.
Following these successes, Knowlarity launched several products like the SuperReceptionist, SuperIVR and SuperFax. Sequoia Capital invested $6.6 million in early 2012 which funded Knowlarity’s expansion programs into the foreign market.
Freshdesk became its first international client which provided the confidence to open business in more than 65 countries internationally.
Over the years it has developed a client a huge client base which includes well known names like Convergys, Pepsi, Fortis Hospital, Naukri.com, Shine.com. Knowlarity is now a global provider of hosted and voice communication services both directly to businesses, and indirectly through its various partners in the IT and Service industry.
Along the way, it has received a lot of recognition from the industry like “Nasscom top league of 10 Award for the largest Enterprise SaaS Company in India”, knowledge consultant, Deloitte ranked it NO. 10 on the “Top 50 emerging Technology award, 2012”, besides being a Techcircle Fastrack 2012 winner.
