End of Dominance

Defeats, surprises, rewards, glory, revenge, pride have been witnessed right from viru’s bangla dance.  We have seen Irish pride and Netherland’s bad omen alongside English sour soup. Host’s bad ball, Afridi’s one side form, lanka’s brilliance, southafrica’s survival, New Zealand’s resurrection concluded the group with few more minnow fights. Ever since the world cup has started, India was undoubted favorites. Hosts are doing their best though khan with Yuvraj being the lone fighters with the ball.

Quarter final whirled the cricket lovers, windies yielded themselves so cheaply which failed to provide an entertainment even to the windies supporter. It was a revenge match between India and Australia.  Ponting’s decision to bat first wasn’t a bad idea after all; it was the nature of the wicket which made it so. Well articulated, patient, responsible innings from the skipper who never scored a fifty in this tournament until he played against India. It was surprise when Ashwin dismissed Watson. Munaf Patel has to be sent to pace foundation to reinvent his pace talent. Slow wicket provided less entertainment when India bowled.

We remember our parents, grandparents, teachers telling us to aim higher; it is one person, who shows every time, it is Virender Sehwag. Irrespective of the bowler, match, pitch condition, team condition he achieves his own goals which some time prospers the team. It was important for team India to win the quarterfinal against Aussies and his very own frenzy made him a spectator soon. Little master showed an elegance in his innings till he was tempted by tait. Aussies showed everything they could; it was a dirty spirit that crowd booed Ponting. Virat kohli wasted his wicket and the Indian skipper who wasn’t good with the bat failed to clobber. Yuvraj showed immense maturity even after he felt the pressure; Raina proved he was worth picking. When we bleed in blue, Bret lee truly bleed in red. He did not sit back; he knew it was then or never. Lee not only fought against India but also his counterpart Tait – an inside man. Aussies missed Warne, Mc grath, gillespie, or at least Hauritz since Krejza was innocuous. Ponting and his men were obsessed with the World Cup but their Achilles foot was evident; that was the reason for their mishap in this tournament. Nevertheless ponting is one of the greatest captains Australia ever seen, with dominance over a decade it is time for some one to step up.
