Fee hike has made MBA aspirants think twice, shows Poll

In the month of March this year most of the IIMs and other top B-schools had increased their fees, citing various economic reasons behind their decisions. To analyse the impact of the rise in fees MBAUniverse.com Poll raised the important question of "Is MBA education is getting beyond the reach of Indian middle class?".

In the poll 92% of the respondents agree that the rise in fees will certainly make the MBA aspirants from the middle class section of the society think twice before taking their leap in the MBA world. 6% of the respondents say that the fees increase will have no impact. The poll witnessed participation from 181 members of India's management education community, that includes MBA aspirants, students, and working professionals.

It was in March 2010 the B-schools had increased their fees. IIM Ahmedabad had increased its fees by Rs. 1.2 lakh, IIM Bangalore by Rs. 1.5 lakh, ISB by Rs. 1.5 lakh and many others. But there were also some who did not increase their fees, like MDI Gurgaon and SPJIMR Mumbai.

Because of the price rise the students at IIM-A will now pay total of Rs. 13.7 lakh for the 2-year PGPM program, IIM-B students will pay Rs. 13 lakh, and at ISB it will cost Rs. 20 lakh for the one year program.
