5 Life-Saving, Battery-Extending Tips for Your New Windows Phone 7

If you got a Windows Phone 7 over the holidays, you may have noticed all the sweet features that come with the phone, including an interface design that completes the Microsoft ecosystem by tying the phone with the Windows 8 operating system for PCs and the new dashboard for the Xbox 360. But you also may have noticed the phone’s inability to make it through the day on a single charge if you use it a lot, which is a distinct problem for media-heavy college students on the go who text, Tweet, email, surf, post to Facebook, and play games, especially while engrossed in the phone’s slick Metro interface that invites you to keep flipping and sliding tiles just to see what happens next.

Thankfully, there are five easy ways you can increase the Dell XPS M1530 battery life of your Windows Phone 7. Although some of them cut the fun factor significantly, it’s way better to have enough juice left in your phone to receive that important text than it is to play one more game or post one more video. In those situations, some of these energy-saving tips just might save the day.

1. Reduce your screen’s brightness setting

Since your phone’s screen sucks a lot of battery power all the time your using it, reducing your screen’s brightness is probably the easiest, most continually effective, and least intrusive way to increase your  Toshiba PA3534U-1BAS laptop battery life. Reducing your screen’s brightness settings as far as you can while still being able to read and enjoy your phone can save you a lot more juice than you think. Changing your phone’s brightness setting is easy:

    * Tap the start button
    * From the start menu, choose applications
    * From the applications list, choose settings
    * From settings, choose brightness
    * Turn off automatically adjust and then select the lowest level of brightness that you can live with

2. Shorten the screen turn of time and keep it locked

Shortening the time it takes for the screen to turn off is more of a way of deciding how to use your phone on a constant basis than something to do in a pinch when you need to extend your juice — the incremental savings affect the battery charge over a long period but do little to bail you out in an emergency. Your best bet is to just shorten the screen turn off time as much as you can live with and then don’t worry about it again. Also, make sure to keep your phone locked when you’re not actively using it. Doing so will prevent the phone from accidentally turning on and draining the battery.

3. Use dark background themes

Another screen-related Toshiba PA3399U-2BAS battery performance tweak, using dark background themes will help you save battery power when compared to a bright or flashy background. Here’s how to select a darker background:

    * Tap the start button
    * From the start menu, choose applications
    * From the application list, choose settings
    * From settings, choose theme
    * From theme, select background
    * From background, select the dark option

4. Turn on battery saver

Okay, now we’re getting to the really good stuff. Turning on battery saver is a great way to keep some extra gas in the tank when running out of power would be a major league inconvenience, like when your ride needs to let you know it’s about to leave without you. Battery saver closes all the apps and features which consume battery power by running in the background — like email and calendar updates — and only one app will be allowed to run in the background at any given time, so be prepared for a little inconvenience in exchange for some additional mileage. Here’s how to activate battery saver:

    * Tap the start button
    * From the start menu, choose applications
    * From applications, choose settings
    * From settings, choose battery saver
    * Select always turn on battery saver when battery is low to start battery

saver mode automatically whenever the  Asus A32-F3 laptop battery reaches a 20 percent charge level or select turn on battery saver now until next charge for a one-time eco boost that will keep battery saver mode going until you recharge your phone

5. Turn off connections when you’re not using them

Connections such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drain your battery even when you’re not using them. Make sure to turn them off when you’re not actively using them to lengthen your battery life. Also, make sure to turn off connect to Xbox live by tapping start, then settings, then applications, then games.
