Windows 7 Using Windows 7 Home Upgrade

Microsoft does not support a direct upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. Instead, you must perform a custom installation that erases the data currently installed on your computer. Before the upgrade, you must confirm that your computer can run Windows 7 successfully because not all hardware is compatible. Then you must transfer your files to an external storage device, such as a flash drive, external hard drive or DVD. After installing Windows 7, you must reinstall the other programs on your computer. Confirm your computer's compatibility with Windows 7. Microsoft recommends using the Windows 7 Update Advisor utility. This utility scans the computer hardware and the currently installed programs. Download this free utility from the Microsoft website and follow the installation instructions. Open the program, click "Yes" to the security prompt, and then click "Start Check" to scan your computer. The amount of time the scan takes to complete depends on the overall speed of the computer. Once the scan completes, you can review the compatibility report. The report informs you of any compatibility issues and provides recommendations on how to resolve the issues. You can run the report again after making any changes to confirm issue resolution.

Transfer your files to an external storage device. Microsoft recommends using Windows Easy Transfer, a free download available on the Microsoft website. Download Windows Easy Transfer and install on your computer following the installation instructions provided by Microsoft. Open the program, click "Next," and select "An External Hard Disk or USB Flash Drive." Then, click "This is My Old Computer." The program scans your computer. The amount of time this takes varies on the number of files and the overall speed of the computer. Deselect any user accounts you do not wish to transfer, and then click "Next." Enter a password, if desired, and click "Save." Browse to the desired external storage device and click "Save." You cannot use your computer during the file transfer. If you do not want to use Microsoft's free utility to transfer your files, you must manually copy your files to the external storage device. Only files, not programs, transfer. Find Acer Aspire 4730 Battery for your new laptop too.

Read the license agreement and click to accept the "I Accept the License Terms." Click "Next."

Click "Custom" when prompted for an installation type.

Select the Windows XP partition, and click "Next." This partition is often your computer's C: drive. Click "OK." Follow the onscreen prompts regarding your Windows 7 configuration to complete the installation. The amount of time the installation takes depends on the speed of your computer.

Copy your files from the external storage device to your computer. If you used Windows Easy Transfer to copy your files originally, use the program to transfer the files back to your computer. Otherwise, you must manually copy the files.

Reinstall the programs you want to use on your Windows 7 computer, such as Microsoft Office or scanning applications. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation. Get high quslity Toshiba Satellite A70 Battery for your laptop.
