Microsoft Lures back again companies from Google
InterContinental accommodations team made a decision earlier this twelve weeks to proceed all its 25,000 personnel from Microsoft’s e mail and workplace efficiency suite to Google’s web-based solutions. At present, 6,000 employees concerning the accommodation control institution have presently migrated.
According to Tom Conophy, chief information officer of IHG, the company’s transition from Microsoft to Google is going smoothly. He said that his company will save several millions of dollars each year. He added that Google’s online services have improved since it entered the enterprise market four years ago.
To stop such migrations from happening again, Microsoft is set to release its Office 365 service on Tuesday. This is a cloud-based version of Microsoft’s email, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.
Just like Google Apps, Microsoft’s new service runs in the cloud. Users can access the services via a web browser on a PC, smartphone, or tablet. Office 365 is available at different prices. Microsoft wants to supply the demand for productivity suites that would cost companies less than typical software.
Microsoft’s Office suite brings in $20 billion each year. It brings in more money than its Windows PC operating system. Microsoft wants to find a way to provide cloud productivity suite without eating into its money-maker.
