J.P. Morgan Analyst: iPad3 Is No Rush for 2011
Analyst Mark Moskowitz with J.P. Morgan revealed on Friday that his conversations with industry insiders (who are those insiders anyway) have revealed that Apple’s next iPad will not be available until sometime in 2012, even as prototypes for the device begin to circle in the supply chain. For some months there was rumor of an iPad 3 this year, or even an iPad HD (or iPad with improved resolution) this year with an iPad 3 coming next year. As always with Apple products it’s a waiting and guessing game until the company chooses to let us know more. However a report on Apple Insider by Neil Hughes suggests there’s not exactly a need to release another iPad this year, especially as Apple still has no real clear contender in the tablet market (that’s true). Throughout 2011, reports persisted that Apple planned to release a high-end successor to the iPad 2, which was released in March. Rather than replace the iPad 2, it was said the new model would grow the iPad family, perhaps by offering a higher resolution display.
And while Apple works behind the scenes on its next iPad, in July an alleged “iPad 3″ part was discovered. A report accompanying that component suggested the model would sport a “brand-new design.” But Apple should be in no rush to grow the iPad lineup, in Moskowitz’s view, as competitors like Motorola and Research in Motion have disappointed with their own competing offerings. RIM announced on Thursday that it has shipped just 200,000 PlayBooks, far less than iPads Apple sold in its most recent quarter. According to recent figures released by the International Data Corporation (IDC), Apple’s iPad 2 shipped 9.3 million units in the second quarter, hitting a worldwide market share of 68.3 percent, that’s good news though, iPad2 has such unbelievable sales, but why we still desire for iPad3, because when Apple release his new products, that means they have improved them, which means iPad3 must be better than 2, we all know if we want to play flash video on ipad, we have to do it by video to ipad converter, so when we say we want iPad3, it just means we hope iPad3 have powerful functions that iPad2 doesn’t have.
Moskowitz says the next threat may not come until late 2012, with the arrival of devices running Microsoft’s new OS, Windows 8, just like I said before, Windows8 is coming, and Sony is working out its own Tablet, too. But you see, HP, Samsung or what else, they are so weak to compete with Apple, and HP Tablet just disappeared, so that’s exactly what’s happening with Apple in the tablet market, with competition to the iPad 2 so weak Mark says Apple should be ‘in no rush’ to release its rumoured iPad 3. And for now, with tablet shipments for 2011 expected to reach 62.5 million units, Apple can sit back and enjoy the ride. But for us, honestly, we don’t want to wait any more.
