Students Who Take Advantage of iPad have Better Performance

We all know that iPad has permeated the college or high school in America. Apple will donate a bunch of iPad2 to schools now and then, lots of schools have replaced traditional textbooks with iPad, and I bet students are the happiest beneficiaries, because everyone wants iPad, and as students, they don’t have to pay for it, they can use it for free. No matter electronic textbooks or related materials or online resource, they all can be obtained in iPad. Since Apple iPad has launched iPad in the spring of 2010, this Tablet was welcomed by many universities in American in a short time, and from this autumn, more public schools have joined this queue, abandoning the traditional teaching, utilizing light and powerful iPad.

And recently, Apple co-operates with the Teach for America program, donating 9000 unit first generation iPad to teachers who worked in poor and dangerous schools. These iPads were recovered from consumers, and this program is a public project that announced by Apple when they released iPad 2. Rounding the third year since their research began, the university has graduated to testing iPads from having previously used iPhone and iPod Touch devices to review the impact of digital mobility on education. The results of their research appear to be overwhelmingly positive. Students who took advantage of iPads to annotate their notes ended up scoring 25% higher on questions regarding information transfer than those who hadn’t. Grad students that used the devices were noted as being 95% satisfied with their online coursework. The feeling among those using it seems to be that the iPad gave students the opportunity to have what they referred to as ‘learning moments’, by making better use of their time. But we all know there is something else that iPad can do, such as chatting, playing games, listening to music or watch videos, so who can guarantee that students are studying with iPad not playing something else, now that school is the one who provides iPad to students, there is no doubt that it should make some strategy to make sure students use iPad in a right way, make sure the tablets could be fully utilized, to make the tablets into something more than just a technological toy, which meant blocking YouTube and helping students to focus, rather than letting them talk about the ipad converter suite to enjoy free videos with ipad or how to convert dvd to ipad on mac or something else.

If we can avoid those adverse influences, then iPad can have a more significant meaning. The more good things iPad do for students, more teachers and students can become beneficiaries. And this is just the beginning. When we think about using tablets to supplement our educational experiences, I think most people jump to the idea of digital versions of textbooks. While I think that certainly is one of the first applications, more educational resources will be made available for iPads and other tablet devices as time goes on. Consider being able to supplement lessons with digital video, review breaking news stories as they unfold, access studying aids like flashcards or supplemental quizzes. The opportunities really are endless in this realm.
