E governance in India: Towards an efficient public services delivery mechanism
Different tools and technologies to transmit information through the use of computer, interconnected networks, telecommunication services and other technologies devices are called information and communication technologies. These increase the mobility of information, awareness and exchange of knowledge in the society. Society gets to know about the outer worlds’ progress and learn solutions of various basic problems. ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) plays a vital role in strengthening people’s voice and in communicating the governments about the issues at a local level. ICT is very important for an open interaction platform among the other stakeholders of the society as well. ICTs role has become very vital for the various livelihood projects such as poverty alleviation, health awareness, universal education, and sustainable development. Information and communication tools and technology services has empowered the society in bringing the issues and challenges of governmental initiatives and it helps in an efficient, reasonable and participatory governance process. For a transparent mechanism, governments get to know about the loopholes and misutilization of resources, corruption etc. at ground level through an ICT led open information exchange platform. Through the use of information and communication technologies, Governments get a good governance rating, trust and transparency, awareness and empowerment and most importantly a belief in democracy.
