Greener fuel options for Indian car market
Ultimately government has decided to decontrol fuel prices because petrol and diesel have become costlier. It has moved all the focus on green fuel option cars. All the car companies have started concentrating on their plans for car models with CNG and LPG options.
Some of the car companies like Toyota , Hyundai, General Motors and some other companies already have green fuel option cars running in the market. They are planning to expand their operations. On the other hand, companies who are new in this game have decided to start as soon as possible. Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce CNG option across various segments. Estilo, Alto, and WagonR will get CNG option as compact and SX4 will offer it for multi-purpose.
Key decision makers have demanded that the green fuel option cars will capture the market share as the operating cost is less for them compared to others. “As we go forward, companies have to provide alternate fuel as an option on many of their models,” said Ankush Arora, the sales and marketing head for General Motors in India.
