Constructive comments in Peer Reviews
Peer review is one of the important process for development of any product. It aids in maintaining the quality of a product at any given time of its development. Hence it is vital at every stage of the development.
Peer review does the following:
Peer review would be fruitful only if it is done understanding it's purpose. The understanding should be with both those who sends artifacts for review and those who reviews it. Those who sends artifacts for review should optimistically approach the comments from reviewer. Each comment should be given its share of attention.
The reviewer should have the character of sending constructive comments. The term constructive comments refer to the comments that contributes to quality of the product being built. I.e. Comments those
For a comment to be constructive, it should be in the form of suggestion instead of question. Questions shall be there for the following reasons:
I hate seeing comments that starts with "I am not sure,..." or "I think...". Comments that starts with such words should be justified for the way they are framed.
One of the most common funniest comments - "Please correct if it is wrong". The other example of a bad comment - "Please kindly check whether the entries for the above fields for this defect are correct and if it is not so please update".
For a team to operate in a healthy environment for providing a high quality product/service, constructive comments are essential.
