TiE-Chandigarh is one of the most active chapters in the country with its team of young and established entrepreneurs reaching out to young boys and girls, just out of their colleges, to hold hands and lead them through the tough yet exciting journey of entrepreneurship.

Recognising the contribution that TiE Chandigarh had been making in the field, Punjab Technical University, one of the largest technical universities in the country, has signed up the MoU with TiE to help them establish five nodal centres in the engineering college campuses of PTU.

Just like the entire banking sector has been revolutionised by the IT in the last fifteen years, education sector today requires similar intervention from the experts which the engagement with TiE shall help it realise, quipped the PTU's Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajneesh Arora.

We want a team of job creators and not job seekers, emphasised Dr. Arora.

TiE-Chandigarh's chairman Partap Aggarwal ensured the formation of a task force within TiE to assist PTU in upgrading its curricula match the industry requirements and make youngsters employable.

Integrating social media for better engagement of academicians, researchers, industry experts and entrepreneurs with the students is on the radar of TiE Chandigarh, which would also be holding various business plan competitions and regular skill upgradation workshops to mentor the budding entrepreneurs.

This augurs well for the entire economy of this region, remarked Padamshree Chandra Mohan, a reputed entrepreneur and better known for leading the first tractor unit of the country, Punjab Tractors as its chairman.

Our country needs technocrats to setup manufacturing facilities in the tier-II and tier-III cities so that employment can be generated, he added.

Punjab and Chandigarh is fast emerging as the best educational hub with close partnership of industry and organisations like TiE that can groom the engineering pass outs and even all those who have ideas to work on, into entrepreneurs.
