Top iPhone Games in 2011
Tiny Tower
We love pixelated graphics and we also love free games, which is probably why Tiny Tower constructed a spot in our hearts instantly.
You build story after story in your tiny tower, restock items, hire bitizens for jobs, and eventually create a striving ecosystem for your little workers. Tiny Tower is a simulation game where users control the lives of several onscreen characters and look to raise revenue through charging rent and running various businesses. You get to build these towers where you can create shops to sell items. You can also make apartments for bitizens (virtual people) and hire them to work for you. It's pretty realistic, too. The app generates in-game cash naturally, but players who don't want to wait 45 minutes for an action to complete will eventually be tempted to purchase more for real-world dollars. And given the game's addictive qualities, this can add up quickly. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.
Touchgrind BMX
Do you want to become a BMX pro and perform spectacular tricks in breathtaking locations all over the world? Here is a fast and furiously addictive and fun game for you.
Touchgrind BMX is similar to a previously released game by Illusion Labs titled Touchgrind. In Touchgrind, the player controls a skateboard with two fingers (symbolic of two feet). Touchgrind BMX is similar but the two fingers are controlling a bike.
Touchgrind BMX’s controls are definitely unique. The finger on the seat of the bike makes the bike accelerate while the finger on the bar steers. Tricks can be done by making various gestures with each of those fingers. Swipe the bar finger left or right to do a barspin. Swipe the back finger horizontally for a tailwhip. Flips can be done by swiping both fingers vertically. There's a multiplier system going on for unbroken streaks, and an excellent progression structure, but what makes Touch Grind BMX exceptional is its crisp and responsive controls. There also are more complicated tricks, but the basics make sense based on where the fingers are placed on the bike. As a result, the controls feel natural.
Touchgrind BMX has some great graphics. There are various locations to ride displayed on a globe. There are plenty of extras to find and explore, including goals and scoring medals and challenges, along with a nice replay mode that even lets you send videos off to YouTube and Facebook.
Tiny Wings review
Tiny Wings was chosen as the iPhone Game of the Year in App Store Rewind 2011 in Europe and many other countries.
Tiny Wings doesn't have as much depth as games like Angry Birds and Infinity Blade, but it's impressively simple and satisfying, and gorgeously presented. Overall, it's a delicious slice of mobile-gaming pie.
The game may be easy to understand and even simpler to play, but the up-and-down motion, use of color and sound, and rhythmic nature of play all come together to allow you to lose yourself in the kinetic motion of your bird. You touch your finger to the screen to get the bird to dip, trying to fit perfectly into the downward slope of hills and then let go after it gains speed, but that's enough. You'll be forced to weigh each situation, making choices between speed and getting coins, and the game gives you a variety of tasks to accomplish in order to get a new nest. The goals and rewards are both humble, but they're enough to keep the player locked into the game, working towards those slight rewards.
I could go on saying more nice things about Tiny Wings, but I’d rather get back to playing.
The number one thing to look for in an iPhone games app is simply fun. Mobile games should be enjoyable, run without glitches and be amusing. And amusing is of course subjective; some people like brain teasers, others racing games, some like shooter games and other game lovers like gambling cell phone games. So, what type of iPhone game you choose depends on what kind of game you find amusing or entertaining. For the iPad uses, I recommend the best puzzle games for ipad. Even the paid iPhone games do not require a major investment, most are just under 5 dollars, so go ahead, download one and enjoy. That's it for this Game Time.
