Apple Is Planning to Increase Outsourcing of Software Development Services to India
It has been in the news that Apple has planned to invest a large amount of revenue on software development services. It will be increased for about 4 times the previous amount being spent on these services. Apple is currently spending around $100 million on outsourcing development and maintenance work to the Indian companies. However, according to the current reports it is set to be hugely increased this year due to the rise in demand of business oriented software applications.
Apple in itself performs all the operations in a secretive manner and thus outsourcing plans from them seem to be bit strange to all. The Chief Information Officer of Apple visited Indian offshore software development companies for discussing plans about technology based services from them. They are currently sticking to the resource planning software SAP for managing their large overseas supply chain.
For all the U.S. companies it has become quite mandatory to choose China for all the manufacturing services and India for software services. This has reduced the number of job openings for U.S. nationals by large. This is the reason that Apple has maintained secrecy on outsourcing to India. This major step by the iPhone maker will be a lucrative opportunity for IT companies in India.
Apple is a reputable and big brand name in the market and joining hands with such type of company will add credibility to the companies in India. They have already expanded their retail services in India and are planning to further increase it. It has greatly affected the company’s presence in the country. The country has changed certain laws which now allow foreign companies to hold full ownership of single brand retail outlets. This move from Indian government has changed the mindset of many foreign companies which were trying to build up market presence in the country.
