Leading game developer having plans to cut back Facebook Reliance
Zynga, a software development company and the biggest developer of games played on Facebook, is selling its services to other developers which may reduce its reliance on Facebook. This top social networking site accounts for more than 90 percent of sales of Zynga games in return of 30 % cut in sales at present. Company’s plan for a new publishing platform in March is dependent upon talks with partners plus internal development.
Zynga Incorporation which became public in December is seeking new sources of revenue after raising 1 billion U.S. dollar in its initial public offering. It has plans to unveil a set of software development services, specifically designed to promote other developers and to lessen its dependence on Facebook Inc.
According to research firm AppData, developer’s last month release ‘Hidden Chronicles’, has become Zynga's third most popular game with more than thirty million monthly users. For reference this is ranked behind two most time-honored games, CityVille and Texas HoldEm Poker. With becoming a publisher, Zynga will be like a traditional console game companies that distribute and endorse games made by self-governing design studios in exchange for a cut of sales on Facebook. Joining Zynga's network will not let off developers from giving Facebook a cut of sales.
