Are dynamic web sites over shadowing Static websites
Static website
A website which has web pages stored on the server in same format in which they are sent to a client web browser is classified as a static website. Such websites are primarily coded in Hypertext Markup Language(HTML). Such websites display the same information to all visitors for a considerable long period. Such websites have the advantage of being flexible in the context that each page can be presented in a different layout. Besides this, the other advantage is cost effectiveness especially for a small company which looks for affordable web solutions.
However, Static websites are not popular because the process of editing the text on static websites is manual and requires basic skills in designing and knowledge of the software. Not only this, the cost of maintaining such websites is considerably higher in the longer run. Since, such websites are to be manually edited lot training is required for developing the desired skill levels, this at times makes the experienced professionals indispensable.
Dynamic website
Dynamic websites can be changed much frequently and even automatically on the basis of certain criteria. In other words such websites provide web solutions of website automation. Advantage that are tagged with such websites include easy updating and addition of contents without the help of a webmaster, the crux being that website owners do not require extraordinary skills for maintaining their website. To add to this such websites have the advantage that they can be connected to the database where the entire information resides. The disadvantages of being more complex and not easily indexed by search engines are no longer valid with the development of search engines which have resolved the issue of indexing dynamic urls. The other disadvantage associated with such websites is high cost of development.
