Working Life Management:
Hibiscus itself is like home to me. All my team members are like my family here. Since I am one of the first employees of my company I know each team member individually. I share all the personal stuff with my entrusted colleagues and they do the same, I would say few perks of working for startup.
Done Differently:
I would have started gaining knowledge about IT industry well before entering it. I should have estimated the power of social media and started leveraging its fruits full benefits for my benefit. Well nothing that can not be changed - I dont think I miss anything much, simply no regrets as of now.
Plans For The Future:
Well leading a team of 10 marketeers under me. Coaching them while maintaining all the current duties as a marketing manager. I would still like to be Marketing head of Hibiscus as I am right now but with 200 people working in Hibiscus. Basically I want to see Hibiscus grow with me growing with it.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
We have grown from a small unit of 10 people to a +60 member team. We have now a worldclass portfolio with major names with whom we do business with. Now the company has become a unit which evolves on its own and is not dependent upon a particular individual. A lot of processes have come in due time
Growth Strategy:
I meet a lot of people who are into same field to know the existing market trends. I read articles in Blogs and market research sites to see where the current market trends are leading the market to.
I am increasing my knowledge of different economies of world knowing more people and their ways.
Other Thoughts:
I am adventurous person, I like to travel a lot. I enjoy movies of languages. I want to learn more about the glorious past of South India by visiting all its old monuments and places of interest.
I like doing consultation for mobile apps and play Video Games in ma free time.
Required Reading:
IDC, Gartner are good online sources. But along with that one should look at various surveys conducted by Forbes, CSC and likes.
One can learn about a particular trend simply by Googling. Every one must be aware of Niche technologies in the market and the things that will be cutting edge in future.
Advice For New Professionals:
Become street smart. There are 10 people who are waiting for the opportunity that you might just kick away. I come from the time when recession was at all time high. This is good time to enter the industry or to change one's portfolio. Work hard and as its said there are no shot cuts to success.
