Arun M Viswanath's Story

The Journey So Far:
Started as a Casual Laborer in Hotel Taj Corommandel. Donned the role of Salesman, Team Manager, Branch Manager, State Head, Centre Head, Regional Head and Merchandiser with various companies and in various industries. Was also a Share Trader, Portfolio Manager,Sub-Broker and Trainer. I thank GOD.
Job Profile:
As the Founding CEO of the organisation, I'm responsible for Business Plan, Talent Acquisition, Apportioning Roles and Responsibilities and co-ordinating the day to day affairs in convergence with our vision and mission
Career Profile:
As a Founding CEO, the founding principles of Management, in a Business Organisation is my responsibility.ie., Planning, Organizing,Staffing, Directing and Co-ordinating. In my previous jobs, I was never in a position of handling the whole of this. But always vertical/domain specific.
Degrees That Matter:
LOVE till LIFE lasts
Working Life Management:
How much ever busy, I'll reach home by 10.30p.m. And Sunday nothing about work, completely to the family. Going to church, taking wife out, visiting relatives and friends.
Done Differently:
Knowing what I know ?? Well. What I know ? That Life is simple, let's not complicate. There is no full stop but only commas. Be a giver and forgiver. That makes your heartlight, which makes you SOAR. With this anybody can do anything. Nothing stops. This goes for me too.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
In this tough period of recession and the beginning of our start up, By GOD's Grace, I was able to wade through to success "without compromising principles, values and ethics.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
When I began India was not liberalised. Less opportunities. But the effect of any economical related global phenomenon was negligent. Today more opportunities, more freedom, more globally attached. Have seen depression/recession of 1988, 1993,1998,2002, 2008. Wonderful. Boats are safe in harbor, but.
Growth Strategy:
Continuously reminding myself that 1.What I know is little, and potential to know is more. 2.knowing is not much important, but applying what you know for the betterment of the people around you is the purpose.
Other Thoughts:
Motto that I strongly believe in is "Its better to light a candle, than curse darkness"
Required Reading:
Wings of Fire, Autobiography of Lee Iococca, and Akio Morito
Advice For New Professionals:
When you work - for any company - only one day in a month you get your salary. So don't choose a JOB that makes you happy that one day, but a job that can make you feel good and happy the whole month.
Role Model:
JESUS CHRIST. Because he taught me the power of giving and forgiving. To take abuse with a smile, even when you are not wrong. He taught me how to cope up, when the same people for whose benefit you are toiling indicts, make fun of you and your vision, make fun of your principles, values and ethics.
