Balraj Rd's Story
The Journey So Far:
I started my career in the hotel industry and moved on to Hospital industry from where i moved into IT Sector where i have continued till now. I have had the experience of being into both Hardcore HR activities and Recruiting and knowing about Peoplesoft.Worked in both Domestic and US Recruitment.
Job Profile:
I am currently employed as a Recruitment Manager, and my roles and responsibilities include working on Senior Mandates, bringing in new clients, guiding and mentoring a team of 40 recruiters through all process of recruitment.
The Decisions That Matter
There are many. For instance, started my career as a hotel management graduate, and after getting inputs, decided to do PMIR and completed eventually my MBA in HR. Along the way,had an excellent opportunity to be involved in assisting two major hospitals in getting them thier ISO Certifications.
Working Life Management:
Quite difficult, but first priority for me is my family and then comes my career with my company, and i always make sure that i do not leave things for later. Since i have more than 15 years of working experience, it is a challenge. One more factor i consider is to work smart, not hard.
Done Differently:
If i were to start my career all over again, would get back into my initial career of hotel industry, which i have a passion for, and would love to start all over again, if i do get such an opportunity.
Plans For The Future:
Running my own consulting firm and serving top clients and also training and mentoring people who would be interested in a career and not just a work.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
There are many. Major among this are getting ISO Certifications for two major hospitals, implementing peoplesoft, helping one of my company in which i worked cross one million turn over and training more than 100+ people on nuances of recruitment, head hunting etc.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
Professional environment has changed drastically. When i joined hotel industry, there were things we were taught, but as it progressed, we were not taught new things. It has been a tough life, but the only way to survive is to keep updating yourself continuously. I hope all the companies know this.
Growth Strategy:
Continuous learning from all on all aspects of life, including understanding technologies, ways and methods to successfully guide people and myself.
Advice For New Professionals:
My advice, be willing to learn new technologies, and to remember to accept mistakes and correct them and to remain calm and composed in all situations as that can help you overcome difficult situations. Also learn to be a smart worker and not concentrate on being a hard worker.
Role Model:
There are quite a few role models. All of them have inspired me with their commitment and dedication to their respective fields. All of them have been an integral part of my current career.
