Chacko Varghese's Story

Brief description about me
Born and brought up in Mumbai. Passed high School (St. Annes Malad) and moved to Kerala. Graduated from Mar Thomas College, Kerala. Started my working career in North Block, New Delhi. Moved to Kuwait. Was in Kuwait when Saddam attacked Kuwait in August 1991. Landed in New York in 1992. Joined Westchester Community College as a Staff. Passed my Series 7,63, 24 exams. Took my Real Estate License in 1996. Moved to California in 2003. Took the Real Estate CA exam and become an Agent. My love for the Mortgage Industry prompted me to choose Mortgages and not Real Estate. Passed my Broker Exam. Currently doing Mortgages and Mortgage Protection Insurance. I pride myself as a Mortgage Consultant. I am a Certified Mortgage Coach.
Initiative to develop a country
India is developing leaps and bounds. Corruption should go. Professionals should give back something to the Country be it wealth or technology. Make sure the wealth reaches the right hands.
My achievements
My answers on Trulia and Mortgage News Daily. http://www.swanloans.com/?pgcnfID=113372 http://www.swanloans.com/?pgcnfID=113371 (Pls see both answers)
Thoughts on Education system of our country
I will not say that India has the perfect system. However Indian graduates are getting admissions to the prestigious universities round the world on scholarships to prove that we are not far behind. Universities with more hands on training is the need of the hour. Special scholarships to the poor should increase. The big corporations should sponsor these bright but poor students, who cannot afford the fees, hostel and books. Free elementary education is a must. Eradicate poverty with education. Ignorance is the root cause of all evils.
Important decision
Resigning from New Delhi North Block to take up a job in Kuwait. Driving 48 hours to exit war torn Kuwait. Moving to New York. Moving to California. Selecting Mortgages as my Career and getting an opportunity to help homeowners or help other become homeowners.
Degree that I recommend
Knowledge is the only Degree required. It comes with hands on training. Book knowledge alone will not suffice.
Important lesson learned
Think twice before you speak. Choose a career you are happy with, do not choose a career for money. Money comes and goes only the happiness remains. Life is short. Make the most of it.
Influenced by
The words of Wisdom of all Wise Men. M.K. Gandhi and Lord Buddha stand out. “A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.” Mahatma Gandhi “Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.” Lord Buddha
My strongest skill
Knowledge of the Financial Markets and hands on experience.
My family background
Happily married with two kids and two grand kids. Live in San Jose West.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
I always believe that "Knowledge is Power". Live with the people and understand their problems before trying to solve issues. Ask questions, think outside the box. “The Pen is mightier than the sword.”
Ensuring success
Education is the key to success. Reading, Reading and Reading is just like Location, Location, Location is to real estate. Keeping myself updated on Mortgages and Real Estate trends. Knowing the direction of the financial market is always a good indicator for somebody in the financial industry.
More about myself
Life is a journey. "All the world is a stage". Life is short, be happy. Help to the extent possible. Share knowledge.
