Basic school education is fine, but higher education needs to be job oriented with skills set training as an integral part.

Never feel shy of any work including asking your juniors about a fact that you do not know. Do not hesitate to admit your mistakes.

Ability to groom your colleagues to take your position so that you can move ahead.
My family background
Wife is working with a leading school as in-charge of the pre primary section.
