Udaya Kumar's Story
The Journey So Far:
It is an amazing journey learning lot different corporate cultures, meet true professionals and part of several organization/customer success.I helped several global companies to set up and scale software development centers, sales, operations and strategy.
Job Profile:
I work as an Architect mainly responsible for the delivery of a particular solution on the date committed, own complete responsibility of the Solution Architecture.I am also a key person who understands the solution and the domain/ industry ,Key Technology areas are SharePoint and .NET Technologies.
Career Profile:
In Symphony Services I am mainly responsible for Solution Architecture,Solution Delivery,Leader,Subject Matter Expert. Earlier I use to be only a Subject Matter Expert and doing more of a individual contributor role.
Degrees That Matter:
Yes certainly there are several but my suggestion would be ,think where do you want to stand in your career map and then take route of Technical or Management. Based on that you can opt for doing a degree or certifications ,I always trust on learning ,only a good learner can become a perfectionist.
Working Life Management:
Simple 75(Work)-25(Family life) ,Thank God I got a very great wife and kids who well supports me.I work hard between Mon-Fri and absolutely spend the Saturday for social activities like writing blogs/speaking in technical forums and Sunday ohhh..boy thats purely for my family,I love it more than any
Done Differently:
I think no need to do anything different just get into a position where my skills can be utilized properly and get paid for that :-).
Plans For The Future:
I always trust in the current life which I have in my hand and enjoy in doing whatever I do each moment. I certainly wanna be a very successful chief technical architect/manager and be consistent in the producing successful solutions, our targets should be great and should work hard to attain that.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
Whatever I did so far after I joined into the professional world am proud of ,but have few pickings.1)Trained almost close to 1100+ software engineers in several MS technologies.2)Completed successfully 8 Microsoft Certifications.3) Got the opportunity to give tech-talks in several conferences.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
Surely the professional environment had been transistioned remarkably to a great extent.Employees with true core skills in their professional field and a great desire to exchange knowledge with colleagues.
Growth Strategy:
I have grown up in a typical Software Industry lifestyle and honestly think that in order to be a leader you must first have the propensity and desire to be a leader. I am a very good leader but not a very good manager. I like to inspire and lead people with my vision, behaviours and work ethic.
Other Thoughts:
Absolutely,Please take the life as it comes ,but at the same time work hard towards your goals ,which should have KRA and objectives...ohh yes I do lot of performance appraisals hahahhah. Jokes apart this is the fact ,keep hitting the target even you fail ,failures makes you to come stronger.
Required Reading:
There are lot of internet resources available for learning/sharpening skills in .NET,SharePoint,jQuery,SQL Server..etc [I personally love Amazon]. I have a blog where you can also pick my favourites http://bestofcyber.wordpress.com. I always trust MS http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/training
Role Model:
One of the finest role model for me is myself and I always get inspired anyone already proven the world ,it could be Sachin in Cricket,Michael Jordan in Basketball,Warren buffett in Business and my demi god Bill Gates in Software Industry.
