Aarushi Sangwan Kinra's Story

Brief description about me
I have around 10 yrs experience working in Telecom domain with a large multinational service provider, equipment vendors, IT Company and wireless backhaul product company at various points as a network planning and implementation engineer, business consultant and account manager.
Initiative to develop a country
Focus on entrepreneurship. I think entrepreneurship is the only way to take the country to next stage, from creating jobs to wealth. Also entrepreneurship will put India on to a different trajectory much like what technology services had done in late 90s
Thoughts on Education system of our country
There's no doubt that our education system is too focused on exams and marks which needs to be changed. But with newer education models and institutes coming in, i think the focus will change to knowledge over a period of time. Also we need to understand that it takes a long time to change the system and cant be done radically. The model in which education has been imparted for long has had its own reasons and successful outcomes but with changing times, the system hasnt evolved.
Important decision
Every decision has its importance in defining how an individual ends up being. From the kind of role you want to grow into to organizations you want to work with, each has its own importance. I think focusing on my core skill sets and building capabilities around that has been one of the most important decision
Couple of years from now
Would like to grow in the profession, career i am into with additional responsibilities. On a personal level, there are specific goals i have set which will help me achieve the professional growth
My role model
I dont have one individual whom i consider as a role model but there have been quite a few people who inspire. Steve Jobs for one has been a great inspiration not just for coming up with an innovative product range but his ability to change himself, evolve and come back strongly I like Shah Rukh Khan for the energy he brings to everything he does - movies, sports, business etc.
Important lesson learned
Importance of adapting to situation. As one grows in organization there are newer challenges, opportunities which come on the way and its only the ability to adapt which helps an individual to swim through. Also accountability and commitment are two things which i was taught in very early stages of my career and i think are probably the most important as well
My strongest skill
I think ability to adapt and learn fast. This has helped me move into different roles, while focusing in the same vertical. I think analytical and communication skills are other two important things which have really helped me grow in my career
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
It is not about one or two specific qualities but essentially various things which might feel small independently that makes a person a good leader. Things like ability to manage team, empower colleagues, ability to trust and delegate etc together enable an individual to manage and lead a team well. I think on a personal level honesty, communication skillsets and commitment to lead by example is a must. Also a good sense of humor helps :)
Ensuring success
Unlearn and learn. The focus is to improve on the business skills and interpersonal skills. There's so much which needs to be learned from domain knowledge to business knowledge.
