I am Basavaraj Enagi, working in Tesco HSC Bangalore. I test and certify quality of software applications mainly in Retail domain facing store and customers in Retail store Tesco UK.
Typical working day includes Test planning, estimation, Test preparation, Test case design and development, Execution, Reporting defect management etc.
Challenges faced in job
With lot of testing on software, we still left with few specific issues coming in Production (in Retails stores) as there are different ways millions of customers use the application.
When such issues hit support team, we work with them to go to root cause.
Current Trends
Cloud computing will be future of software while Agile will be process that changes face of what we do.
My advice
Get acquainted with basics of Software testing. Put into practice what you have learnt that makes our understanding better. be learner all the time.

Necessity is mother of invention. We fail to make out our necessities into correct business requirements. there is less scope for inventions being fully packed with daily work schedules where this work is of maintenance type.
My role model
It was my previous manager. He was very good human being, good professional. His down to earth approach I liked. His skills on judging people and giving right direction for them grow as individual and as a team was superb.
Family Background
I have big family back in native place, agriculture being main passion. With me in Bangalore, i am living with my wife and daughter.
Being different
Quick learner, zeal to work on new projects. Lateral thinking, simplifying the way I work in day to day basis

Online is best source of information. Discussion with professionals is next. Then having book on table is equally important. "Software Testing in the real world" by Edward Kit is one of them.
My important career decision
Shifting to current profile as software professional from mechanical engineer was turning point for me.

My current organization has provided good work life balance. I spend quality time with family.
