Kris Dev's Story
The Journey So Far:
I joined SAIL as MT in 1977. I was Purchase Officer and Inventory Controller. I was Regional Manager in New Delhi. I was selected one among 25,000 executives as Staff Officer to Chairman, SAIL. I joined L.N. Mittal Group in Mexico. I was Director Commercial. I am now a CEO and Consultant.
Job Profile:
I am a Management Consultant. My job is to initiate Innovation for change management. I have had many firsts to my credit including Manthan Award, Innovations Award, etc. I was Head of the e-Governance Implementation initiatives servicing many government organizations. I am a Social Entrepreneur.
Career Profile:
I am a Management Consultant, Change Agent, Social Activist and Innovator. I have moved from managing organizations to managing people. It is ultimately people who manage organizations an nations. Through managing people, I can manage better communities and society. Look at life as a large canvass.
Degrees That Matter:
BE, MBA, MA Psychology & ICT4Development. This could help transform any organization, government or society.
Done Differently:
I would become a hardcore professional with a BE and MBA so that I can handle both technical and managerial assignments better. I would also do MA in Psychology for better man management. I would work for the Government to transform the lives of 1 billion people, particularly the marginalized poor.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
1. GOI investment of Rs. 700 crores in SAIL.
2. SS coinage order & blanking line, saving FE for India.
3. Jawaharlal Nehru Best Executive Award.
4. Reviving a closed company in Mexico.
5. Manthan Award for e-Inclusion & Livelihood
6. Innovations Award 2009
7. World Bank Innovations Fair selection.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
The professional environment in the 70s was very narrow and closed. We felt we knew everything and competent to handle any situation. We were frogs in the well. Now the world is a global village and is so broad and wide open. We have to be one up to keep ourselves up-to-date and competent.
Growth Strategy:
I involve myself in global developmental activities. I offer my services to lead change management. I guide and support people in need of advice. I try to transform the lives of citizens to expand their comfort zone to encompass things beyond their reach to lead a healthy and peaceful life.
Other Thoughts:
Understand human behaviour - why they do / not do. Most failures are due to mismatch in supply and demand in goods/services. A balance has to be created to meet the needs of individuals, organizations and communities. Success is just a step in life. Achieving self satisfaction is most important.
Role Model:
I was inspired by Mr. Lakshmi Mittal. I had the opportunity to work / interact with him when I was Director of a subsidiary company of L.N. Mittal group in Mexico. He was soft and gentle on the personal plane; and hard and tough on the professional front. He was a hard task master & very competent.
