BANGALORE : For all you food lovers, here's some exciting news coming your way. Bangalore's eating-out market is getting ready to open its doors to some big international restaurant brands as well as domestic brands. More excitingly, some of these big names are looking to open shop just before the year-end festivities kick off. Top on the charts are two big names coming from California, Trader Vic's and California Pizza Kitchen (CPK). JSM, a partnership between noted restaurateurs Jay Singh and Sanjay Mahtani that run noted brands like Hard Rock Cafe and Shiro, will launch both Trader Vic's and CPK in December. In addition, Mai Tai Lounge, a high-end resto-bar format of Trader Vic's will also be launched. Mumbai-based popular fine dining restaurant, Indigo, which specializes in modern European cuisine, is planning on bringing its delhi format, Indigo Delhi to Bangalore. But this will take some time. Sigree, the Indian fine dining brand from Speciality Restaurants(promoters of Mainland China) will debut shortly in the city. Explore here Restaurants in Delhi

While, Mai Tai Lounge will be located in Orion Mall, Malleswaram-Rajajinagar, Trader Vic's and CPK will be opening in Phoenix Market City, Whitefield. CPK is a casual dining restaurant with a focus on gourmet pizzas, the Californian way. On the other hand, Trader Vic's is a Polynesian-styled restaurant, with a menu that showcases cuisines from around the world including Chinese, Japanese, Polynesian, Vietnamese, Thai, French and Californian. According to Jay Singh, co-founder & executive director, JSM Corporation, "After Delhi and Mumbai, Bangalore reports a high billing rate in the restaurant business. Bangalore has fast caught up with Mumbai when we look at the billing average, but Delhi is still 20%-25% higher then both cities." However, Singh adds that when it comes to getting restaurant and liquor licences, Bangalore is 10 times more expensive than Mumbai and Delhi.

Another noted fine dining restaurant brand, Punjab Grill, by Jiggs Kalra opened its doors in the city recently. "People in the city have become more adventurous, especially the younger crowd like to experiment a lot when it comes to eating out. This is definitely a big leap from what the scene was a while ago," says Anjan Chatterjee, chairman and MD, Speciality Restaurants. Speciality Restaurants, whose brands include Mainland China, oh! Calcutta, Flame and Grill, will be launching its Indian fine dining restaurantbrand, Sigree, in Indiranagar. The company also has plans of opening Sigree in either Jayanagar or Koramangala. However, in the next one month, the company's 5th Mainland China outlet will open in Orion.
