Kindle VS iPad
With the release of iPad 3, a lot of people especially those reading lovers must be bothered with this question: Kindle VS iPad, which will have better reading experience? Well, let’s compare them in these aspects now: Readability, Graphics, Library, Portability, Price and Battery Life. Knowing the differences can help you make a right choice!;)
Readability
The iPad’s IPS LCD screen technically boasts better contrast but the Kindle manages an excellent approximation of newsprint, we can read it easily even in direct sunlight and the lack of 60Hz refresh rate makes it easier on the eyes over many hours.
Graphics
Kindle offers just 16 shades of grey while iPad boasts full color, not to mention the ability to refresh up to 60 times per second for fluid videos. For magazines and interactive features, the Apple iPad is surely the winner.
Library
The Kindle can only access Amazon’s library but the iPad can access Apple’s iTunes store, the Amazon Kindle store, Barnes & Noble’s Nook library, and more all through apps.
Portability
The Kindle has the iPad beat by a mile when you start counting specs-measuring only 0.34 inches thick and weighing 8.7 ounces while the iPad is 0.5-inch thick and 1.5-pound (24-ounce).
Price
Of course, Kindle will win in terms of price. But it’s unfair to compare the Kindle to the iPad for a couple of reasons. Just think that you can download and enjoy lots of your favourite iPad music, iPad games and new iPad movies free besides reading your loved iPad ebook on it. Even though iPad costs several hundred dollars more than the Kindle, it has still been attracting new and old users to experience the newest generation.
Battery Life
Apple’s iPad offers 10-hour battery life but the Kindle can go days and weeks without a charge.
As an iPad 1 user myself, I never thought that it was a waste of money buying an iPad instead of a Kindle. Actually I am planning to buy an iPad 3 this month!;)
