How to import Canon, Sony, Panasonic AVCHD to PowerDirector for editing

PowerDirector is a powerful video editing software on Windows, published by Cyberlink Corporation on November 18, 2010. It is including PowerDirector 9 Ultra64, PowerDirector 9 Deluxe, PowerDirector 8 Ultra, PowerDirector 8 Deluxe. PowerDirector allows users to capture, edit and output from within the software and has semi-professional features suitable for the consumer level.

PowerDirector has several tools to enhance and edit projects quickly. The Magic Movie Wizard creates an edited movie with effects and transitions. Magic Clean reduces ambient noise and enhances the video color. Magic Cut cuts unedited video to a shorter duration. Magic Fix fixes red-eye, blurry photos and stabilizes shaky footage. Magic Style transforms clips into a finished movie. Magic Music creates background music to match the project length.

However, PowerDirector 9 Deluxe, PowerDirector 8 Deluxe don’t support Canon, Sony, Panasonic AVCHD files as below.

Q1: Does Cyberlink PowerDirector 8 allow you to import AVCHD?

I want editing software that is fast to run (has low rendering time) and will allow me to produce HD quality videos. I have a HD camcorder which formats all videos as AVCHD, if I buy Cyberlink PowerDirector 8 will it be possible to import the videos without converting them beforehand?

Q2: Smart Rendering AVCHD with PowerDirector7

Hi All,

I have PowerDirector 7 and apparently there is a new patch for the SW (that has not been widely released yet) that incorporates SRVT (Smart Rendering) for AVCHD now. I have not got the patch yet so can not confirm myself but here is the thread that talks to it.

Luckily, a friend of mine recommended me an AVCHD to PowerDirector Converter which he tried very great. I download the free trial and found it's very easy to use, and can convert Canon, Sony, Panasonic AVCHD files to PowerDirector supported AVI, DivX, DV, MOV, MP4, WMV, etc. Then I bought it without any hesitating. If you have the same problem with me, maybe you can try it. Learn the details about how to import AVCHD to PowerDirector 9! Hope to help you.
