AVCHD Converter on Mac, Converter Canon, Sony, Panasonic AVCHD for Mac OS X Lion

AVCHD format is a high-definition transport stream video file format which commonly used by HD camcorders such as Sony, Canon, Panasonic. Camcorders make use of MTS in the form of AVCHD, a recording format made specifically for camcorders.

Developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic, the format was introduced in 2006 primarily for use in high definition consumer camcorders. Favorable comparisons of AVCHD against HDV and XDCAM EX solidified perception of AVCHD as a format acceptable for professional usage. Panasonic released the first professional AVCHD camcorder in autumn of 2008, followed by Sony in the first quarter of 2010.

However, AVCHD format is not very popular on Mac. So many people want to convert Canon, Sony, Panasonic AVCHD MTS on Mac as below?

Q2: Best software to convert AVCHD / .mts files for editing on Mac / iMovie?

I have used iSkysoft but then I read about their low quality and that they are prolific spammers to promote software - I need a good quality, reliable option. Suggestions?

Not sure if I will need this conversion for Final Cut but I do need it to bring these clips into iMovie for edit.

Luckily, a friend of mine recommended me an AVCHD Converter for Mac which he tried very great. I download the free trial and found it's very easy to use, and can Canon, Sony, Panasonic AVCHD to video formats like MPEG-4, MOV, DV, 3GP or the format supported by iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, etc for Mac OS. Then I bought it without any hesitating. If you have the same problem with me, maybe you can try it. You also can learn the details about how to convert AVCHD Lite on Mac! Hope to help you.
