IDC research director Tom Mainelli said in the report, "Amazon and Barnes & Noble restructured the tablet market, and their success in the market shows that in addition to iPad, the market also needs other types of tablet PCs."
The success of these tablets will benefit Android in the war of the operating system, although this may be at the expense of other more expensive Android tablet as the prerequisite.
Currently the market share of Apple iPad is 61.5%, IDC said that the Apple iPad will continue to stay ahead. Tom Mainelli said: "I think in the fourth quarter of this year, Apple will have a best performance. What's hot: copy avi to ipad. In 2012, we will see the areas outside the market where Apple products can attract consumers, particularly in corporations and educational markets."
As for HP's webOS, IDC said it has little hope on its back to the tablet market. Since HP announced to give up this business, the market share of the system completely decreased from 5% to 0%.
