The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will launch its regional office for the region of Gujarat, MS University Vadodara campus. The decision of the statutory body of technical education in the country will receive a large number of universities and educational institutions of the state in the streams of engineering, polytechnic and management.

Today, State educational institutions have to approach AICTE regional office to obtain permits for new grants or additional seats for their respective schools. AICTE has eight regional offices located in different parts of the country, while its regional office is located inBhopalin Madhya Pradesh.

AICTE interim president Dr. SS Mantha wrote to MSU in September this year to facilitate the awarding of a plot of land measuring about two acres at MSU to AICTE for the construction of its regional office. MSU Friday deleted the proposal on residential areas close to the University Guest House was allocated for this purpose.

"MSU has taken a good step in clearing the proposal, which will benefit a large number of local students, teachers and management of schools and institutes that would otherwise have to travel long distances to do their job. Once clear that the proposal to our board, the office will be operational, "said Dr. Mantha, who is an alumnus of the MSU Department of Mechanical Engineering, TOI on Saturday, adding that AICTE has only recently begun to establish field offices in places like Guwahati to make available to the northeast of the country.

"Although MSU has the natural advantage in terms of projects and grant proposals for the conference you can continue at the local level, the regional office will also become an advantage for the region ofGujarat," said MSU Provost Professor Yogesh Singh.
