The journey of a m

As an employee in IT and as an engineer by profession I always wanted to start something of my own. As far as my family background is concerned there has been no entrepreneur in the history of my family. I guess i was the first to have a suleimani keeda (big bug in hindi slang) in me to become an entrepreneur.  So after working for many many years, working for many many companies and after travelling to many countries and having experienced all kinds of ups and downs in life as most young professionals do I settled down in Mumbai, India.

Being an amid traveler i was always fascinated with the job of a taxi driver. Whenever I traveled to various parts of the world I used to love talking to taxi drivers whether it is New York, Chicago, Dubai or London or be it here in  Mumbai. The fascination was about meeting new people every next ride. Knowing the new person as a job was for some reason very fascinating. Now when it came to starting a company I thought of a taxi company. Well when I learnt about the taxi business in India I realized that the life of taxi driver isn't all that happening as I would have imagined neither I could change anything by starting a new taxi business. So the next thing stuck me was selling fashion. I thought it much more simpler. All you need to do is a website, some fashion accessories and some clothing and bamm!! Off we start....And that's what exactly I did. Put some lines of Code together, get some good fashion expert click pictures and start selling. Also the market is abuzz about eCommerce growth in India. So thats where i start an eCommerce

The Difference

A lot of people asked me why an eRetail company when there are already so many companies in India??? Whats the difference??? Whats unique about you???

I get this a lot...what's different... and my answer is Nothing different. Our logic is very simple -

An ordinary person doesn't even know more than 4-5 eCommerce site names in India.

Here is an example ...if there are 10 grocery stores in a town and if someone is opening 11th one would you ask him "whats different?"....I guess not...the simple logic is that this grocery store might work as well because there is enough population to cater to. Now lets apply that logic to our business, when people in India know only a few websites(Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, jabong) there is enough scope to another one to grow. with 1.3 billion population I believe there is enough market for us. And with internet penetration growing every year we hope to reach bigger Audience. Also at this moment I believe Indian eCommerce market is about 16 billion dollars annually whereas Chinese eCommerce business is somewhere 314 billion dollars(I hope the figures are correct since I got them from the internet)...and I hear that Indian eCommerce business would be 100 billion dollars by 2020. So i believe we are still in our infant days and there is scope for us to grow and grow bigger.

Having said this....we are not targeting to be No 1 in India at this point in time our target is to be No. 20th probably by 2016. And if that happens I guess we would have made it.

My logic was very simple.

The simple logic we have is there is enough space here to succeed and grow for another company. Else why would every top company is talking about investing in eCommerce today because they know that there enough space.

Well at some point in time all these big five in India were just as we are today....basically a cash starving we may small compared to them but we what we definitely don't lack the zeal, determination and hunger to grow....We would not leave any single stone un-turned to make it a success....probably that's the DIFFERENCE I may say....that we hungry to succeed which the cash rich companies may lack.

Yes there were a lot of hurdles of course right from convincing my family to finding a right co-founder. Also the paperwork, getting the licence and all that headache which comes along with starting a business in India. We overcame the all hurdles after 10 months of inception of the idea in our minds. And finally 1st of Dec 2014 eCommerce company has been launched in India.

Now whats interesting to see is whether we would survive or would we perish as just another startup which came and went by!!!

Statistically given the odds of a startup success there is a fair chance that we may or may not. Now what I want to understand from you as a reader that....what do you think will we flourish or perish?? Whats your opinion?? What would you bet on?? Would it succeed??? What are the odds of success for such a tiny start-up company.

Now that we have launched our website...And given a brief of how came into existance...I would be periodically update what happened to us. In the meantime, you as readers
