You ask Tendulkar to score a hat trick in a soccer match, but this is Ridiculous!!

Isn’t it?

But this is exactly the question we need to ask when we recruit people for a job. Every individual is gifted with a certain skill sets. One gives his best only when the nature of the work requires him to bring his best traits out. The point I want to establish is, if we expect a lion to bark and a dog to sing like a cuckoo, the result will be very devastating. We don’t realize that everybody has a definite function to perform.

Most job seekers are forced to do jobs which are not actually of their kind. I do realize that this is not the duty of any company to pick the talents and give them the best job. But, trying to fit them in one standard mould can affect both the company’s and the individual’s growth in the long run.

I have got sufficient reasons in support of my contention. First of all, in our MBA papers we read about Talent Management, Employee Empowerment, Idea Generation, Student Entrepreneurship and many other bombastic theories and concepts, but I have seen a very little of their application in practical business.

Not only this, the education format in our country is so rigid that, it doesn’t give room for the growth of individual fortes. From nursery to Masters, one has to mug the things up and vomit it in the exam papers. But, the exam results can never corroborate individual talents.

This loss of individual talents can never be compensated by any person or system. A 21st century global economy can not afford such loss. We grow when we give one what he really deserves.

After all, Tendulkar is the best only when he has the willow in his hand and not a soccer ball….
