Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as ‘tweets’. A ‘Tweet’ is a 140 character message shared with followers. Users can send and receive ‘Tweets’ via twitter website, desktop widgets or even through mobile phones.

There are many twitter based applications for different purposes. I would like to share some information about 5 of such applications – which can be helpful for professional development.

You can get updates on the way by SMS – helpful to receive updates from different departments – build completed, alpha test completed, build release, meeting rescheduled etc.

6. One more quick Java application for mobile device: jibjib [http://sugree.com/project/jibjib] – This is an open-source J2ME application, which works on almost all the mobile phones, helps you to tweet from your mobile phone with less cost. You can even see tweets from other people, and replies from your friends.
