Finally we have a women champ in Badminton...

Saina Nehwal made history on Sunday, becoming the first Indian women to win a Super Series tournament after clinching the Indonesian Open with a cracking victory over higher-ranked Chinese Lin Wang in Jakarta.

The Indian ace won an edge-of-the-seat thriller that lasted 49 minutes 12-21, 21-18, 21-9.

Its a sort of a revenge as well, as she had earlier lost to the same player.

Its a big achievement and even bigger than what Sania Mirza, and the India cricket team has done recently.

But the overall media coverage and encouragement is still very minimal.

The prize money which she got on winning a Super Series was just under 2Lcs / INR or 18000 USD. Isn't its appaling considering that a single member in Indian team makes around 2.5 Lcs for playing a single oneday international / Test Match.

The government and the Corporates need to have a closer look and start promoting the players from other fields as well.
